Contemporary Romance Novel from OWFI

At the bottom of the Mississippi River is where you’ll find Branna Lind’s self-esteem. She’s canceled her dream southern wedding, yet she won’t explain why, shocking her family, friends, and community. She’s moving forward on her own terms—no ready-made job in the family business, no community safety net, and no more betrayal.

College professor James Newbern prizes his bachelorhood. Experience taught him how beautiful women are high-maintenance trouble and Branna undoubtedly fits the type. He’s happy to avoid her, until their college vice president assigns him to mentor the newest hire—Branna Lind.

Will the scars on Branna and James’ hearts send them running from love? Can they pause long enough to listen and feel love beating in their hearts?

What My Readers Are Saying

I loved this book! It was so Southern from feeling the heat & humidity, the taste of the food and even, the perfect Southern manners. Linda did a terrific time of making you feel right there with her characters and appreciating their Southern humor! Branna was a Southern Lady who developed a backbone she didn’t know she had and how great it was to have fun and even, get “Steamy”.

I was honestly surprised at how great this story was. There was great character development and the story moved along smoothly. I found myself getting attached to the characters, which for me, is a sign I’m reading something good. Another sign? Being completely disappointed when it ends. Cannot wait for book two, will definitely keep an eye out for it!! Highly recommend, I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Admittedly, I do not read many romances. However, once I began reading Bayou Born, I was so drawn into the story of Branna that I couldn’t put it down. Linda Joyce’s descriptive prose put me right in the middle of the south and its customs. The best part of all is, I get to look forward to other books in the series.
