My favorite dessert to eat this time of year is FUDGE. It seems this is the only time of year I make it and eat it.

  2. Candy Smith

My all-time favorite holiday dessert is pumpkin pie and now my kids have become Punkin fanatics to a thing at created pumpkin monsters lol.

I love dessert so I could make a list of favorites. I love the fudge and candies. I also love apple pie, and I have not so much a recipe as a holiday cheat. I promise it is very good.
    Caramel Apple Pie Cheat:
You start with a Mrs. Smith’s deep dish apple pie. Bake pie per instructions, but remove from oven 10 minutes early. Spread 1 cup chopped pecans over the top. Then melt 1/2 cup caramel topping in microwave. Drizzle caramel over the pecans. Return to oven for 10 minutes. And you are done, caramel apple pie!

Thank you for the giveaway! Happy Holidays!

Oh..the DESSERTS!! My favorite part..almost!! Sometimes I want to serve those first so I know I have room..lol! I make a pineapple upside down cake for Christmas, but this year I’m also making a mandarin orange upside down cake. Same concept except I use either an orange cake mix or a Sunkist cake recipe and add mandarin oranges to the bottom with the browm sigar and butter. Sometimes I chop up some of the oranges and add them to the cake batter as well. Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Holidays!

For me it is Plum pudding with custard sauce. This always brings back many wonderful memories of our big family Christmas dinners..

    • Linda Joyce

      Kathleen,

I’ve never had Plum Pudding with or without custard sauce. Do you have a recipe?

      Teresa,

The toffee bits sealed the deal! I’m going to ask my husband, the baker in our family, to make this!

My favorite would be my great-grandmother’s English shortbread!

    • Linda Joyce

      Linda,

What a wonderful connection to your family. Great-grandmother’s recipe. Did you know that I’m about 30% English/Irish? LOL

      Happy Holidays!

I love sugar cookies with almond flavoring in the icing.

    • Linda Joyce

      Lori,
I love sugar cookies, too! My mom used to make this “paint” using egg yolks and food coloring and something else… and we would paint cookies for Christmas.

      Smiles,

My favorite holiday dessert has to be my grandmothers Double Dutch Apple Pie. It reminds me of being a child and spending time with our whole family together. My sister and I were always drafted to peel the granny smith apples and then to help weave the criss-cross crust top.

    • Linda Joyce

      Denise,

Apple pie is my favorite pie. And my most favorite way to eat apples. LOL

      Happy Holidays!

My favourite dessert is Bread Pudding with Devon Cream. I haven’t made it in years since my mothers death.

    • Linda Joyce

      Jackie,

I just realized, I make two desserts. Carrot Cake and Bread Pudding. I make killer Bread Pudding. Maybe we should both make some bread pudding to celebrate those who are with us in spirit this holiday season.

My uncle’s homemade apple pie! Don’t think I could do it justice even if I had the recipe.

    • Linda Joyce

      Jennifer,

Ohhhh!!! Ask him what his secret is… that makes it so special. Apple pie is my most favorite pie in the world!

      Smiles,

      LJ

Mine is my Mom’s Pineapple Cheesecake that she makes every year from scratch.

    • Linda Joyce

      Elizabeth,

I don’t think I’ve ever had pineapple cheesecake. I’ll have to look that up.

      Smiles,
      LJ

I love my pumpkin rolls I make every year. I use the Libby’s recipe. It’s the best one I found. They take some time and patience but oh so worth it! Merry Christmas Linda.

    • Linda Joyce

      Lori,

Merry Christmas! I’ll look up the recipe and see if my husband will make them for me. He’s the baker. I’m the cook. 🙂

      Smiles,

My favorite holiday Christmas dessert is not any one dessert but rather any of the candy recipes that my Mom shared with and taught me as a kid growing up. It was our tradition to make up 12-15 different kinds of candy making several batches of each and then making up boxes with some of all of it. Then we would deliver the boxes to friends and family but making an emphasis on taking boxes to the elderly and shut ins. Mom’s gone on to her heavenly home but I relive the sweet memories of the past as I still make lots of candy during the Christmas holidays and make up my boxes to distribute out to those I think will like them the most. My husband has also joined me in doing this. He also loved to do little chores or errands for those elderly that we visit to help them out as well. Several are so excited for us to come that they ask me if they can have him a “to do” list when he comes. I enjoy visiting with them while he tinkers on their lists. 🙂 IF I had to pick just ONE more modern version of my favorite holiday dessert, I’d say it would have to be the homemade cinnamon rolls that my husband and I make during the holidays. We made 2 pans for a total of 30 rolls that are loaded with all sort of goodies and tons of pecans. They take several hours to make and about midway through the process I call friends and tell them what time they will be coming out of the oven. We always a great evening of fun, friends and hot out of oven cinnamon rolls. One rises up memories of the past and one bakes new memories for the future!

      Kay,
What a truly lovely thing you do. Carrying on a tradition that you grew up on. I’m a sucker for tradition, it’s those little things that make life so special.

      Hugs! And bless you.

      All my best,
      LJ
