(Newsletter to go out late on 7/5–I took yesterday off the celebrate the Red, White, and Blue.)
This is the place to post your comments to enter the July giveaway.
I’m going to start blogging more in September–starting conversations and talking about Women’s Empowerment. I want your help, which is what July is about. Topics for the new blog.
I will leave you with this quote about Self-Esteem
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” ~ Lucille Ball.
Happy Reading!
Linda Joyce
P.S. I’m reading The Summer Wind by Mary Alice Monroe. What book is your nose in?
I love this saying though I have no idea who came up with it
Dress like Coco
Live like Jackie
Act like Audrey
Laugh like Lucy
I assume they were talking about these empowered women-Coco Chanel/Jackie Kennedy/ Audrey Hepburn and Lucille Ball
All of these women were trailblazers in their own right.
I would like for you to discuss How a woman can become trailblazer without offering others and with grace.
Joye,
That is a lovely saying. Thank you for sharing. And I think your suggestion is a great one. Be on the lookout for it.

How do we as women react to the horrible setbacks we are experiencing in the current political climate?
Jeanna,
Thank you for your comment. That’s a great topic. I’ll be doing some research and putting my past experience together to start a discussion about this.

Linda
I would like to hear about finding a balanced work/home balance as I find that can be challenging at times.
Kari,
This will definitely be a topic for the blog, and probably more than one. I have battled it all my life and learned a few things along the way. Also, with a good discussion, we all might learn something help now. Thank you for posting.
Smiles,
Linda
Such a good job, hmmm, what should you write about—how about how people overcome traumatic childhoods to become good adults.
Susan,
That’s a really interesting topic. My mind is swirling already. I’ll do some research, too.

Linda
Unfortunately, in the working world, I still see signs of women being paid less than men for the same job. I thought these days were behind us, but they are not. This topic has come a long way but not where it should be.
Lori,
I made that same point recently when an alleged author said she wants to do away with affirmative action. Isn’t is sad that No Discrimination in the Workplace based on Gender, no discrimination against Women, had to be language put into a law back in the 1960’s? This is a good topic. Look for it in the blog.

Linda
I would like to see more about women supporting other women. Maybe the Fleur de Lis characters banding together for a post Katrina cause.
Pernette,
In Fleur de Lis Brides, Biloxi’s story and Camilla’s story both touch on their actions following Hurricane Katrina. Biloxi took photographs and posted them, got newspapers to print them, always trying to keep the human suffering forefront in people’s minds because the national media only glosses over the details. And Camilla, she put sweat equity into helping others. The true stories of Katrina are heart-wrenching an heartwarming.
I think the topic of women supporting women is really important. Stay tuned–it will be a topic.
Smiles,
Linda
I always try to empower myself and others around me. It’s not an easy task. Today’s environment is so full of negative thoughts. I just push the positive whenever and wherever I can. I love you all, but first and foremost, love thyself.
I would love to know a little bit more how your inspiration for books come together.
Cynthia,
Your topic makes me giddy. I love sharing about my books. And I’ll have a bit in the August newsletter tomorrow.

It’s not always easy for a woman to ”find her voice”. Not only having the right to speak up, but actually be heard.
Mary,
This is a great topic, and also can be very broad. Are you speaking of everyday life? With family? At work? Or in the community? I think all of these would make good topics.
Smiles,
Linda
I think a great topic would be empowering yourself in the work place. Gone are the days when women were just coffee fetchers. We are moving up that ladder, but still some stodgies from the old days remain to try and hold us back.We need more powerful ways to say no without getting fired and the courage to ask for what we believe we deserve!
Kim,
I think this is a great topic. And a good discussion among all of us could net us a wealth of things to consider. Thanks! Be on the lookout for this topic.
Smiles,
Linda
